Signs You May Be Experiencing a Spiritual Awakening

Written by admini

Possibly one of the most complex, bewildering ordeals you will ever endure in life is that of a spiritual awakening. In the beginning, you may not even realize what is happening to you. It may occur unexpectedly, or may come on gradually, and can even be mistaken for mental health issues or another imbalance in the body.

Attempting to prepare for a spiritual awakening is near to impossible, but there are plenty of ways you can identify the signs and begin to embrace them. Once you understand this miraculous change transpiring in your life, you can then learn to use it and allow it to guide you.

Spiritual awakenings are not a new concept. Many cultures and religions around the world have celebrated spiritual awakenings for centuries and there is an array of terminology surrounding this notion, such as “enlightenment” or “nirvana.” In the West, the idea was popularized by psychologist Carl Jung, who explained the process as “coming back to the Original Self.”

No matter how you choose to refer to it, a spiritual awakening is a sacred ritual of “awakening” your mind, body, and spirit to your higher self. You may find it to be frustrating yet wondrous, grueling yet inspiring—just keep on pushing forward.

Read on to learn more about essential signs and symptoms of a spiritual awakening.

1. You begin to think deeply and question everything.

During the initial stages of a spiritual awakening, you may feel a tendency to question facets of life you never thought about much before; these topics may suddenly feel overwhelming and immensely important to you. These questions could include:

  • “Why am I here?”
  • “What is my life’s purpose?”
  • “What happens after death?”

2. A major change has occurred in your life.

A spiritual awakening is frequently known to be triggered by a major event in a person’s life. These may range from severe illness, to life-threatening accidents, to divorces, to wartime, and much more. Traumas such as these are deeply linked to spiritual awakening because they oftentimes force you to look within and view your life from a more spiritual lens. Learning to cope with trauma can also lead you down the path to spiritual awakening.

3. You feel disconnected and alone.

The path to spiritual awakening is often a lonely one. It is a path only you can walk and define for yourself. You may feel lost or as though nothing in your life makes sense anymore as you shed old convictions. Feeling cut off or unable to relate to people you were once close to is common as well. At some point in this process, you may begin craving more alone time.

4. You are able to feel, hear, and trust your intuition.

That little nudge in your gut is there for a reason, but during spiritual awakening, your connection to your intuition may grow stronger, resulting in your intuitive abilities enhancing along with it. As you become more aligned with your higher self, it is possible to start experiencing deeper intuitive skills such as clairvoyance, clairaudience, claircognizance, and clairsentience. Connecting with spirit guides is plausible as well.

5. Synchronicity, serendipity, and deja-vu are common.

No, you are not crazy. During a spiritual awakening, these occurrences may become more prevalent and meaningful in your life. They can present as anything relevant to you personally, such as angel numbers, thinking of someone and then seeing them, or discovering symbolic items recurring for you, such as a penny or a butterfly. Noticing or feeling any of these incidents simply means you are conscious of your spiritual blossoming.

7. You exhibit heightened awareness and empathy.

As you walk this new path, it is normal to start feeling more attuned to humanity. This can manifest in a few different ways, such as physically feeling the pain of others, struggling to cope with intense emotions, displaying an alarming response to worldly issues, or trouble dealing with energetic shifts. You will likely also begin to care more about the world around you and develop a desire to help others.

8. You acutely identify with the main steps of spiritual awakening.

While the initial spiritual awakening can occur in an instant, the entire process takes some time–mostly several years. The following seven steps outline this process:

  1. Waking Up: This is the beginning of the awakening journey; you may feel confused or as though something is missing in your life.
  2. Dark Night of the soul: You will have feelings of isolation, abandonment, melancholy, existential dread, deep tiredness, or lacking motivation.
  3. The Sponge: You come out on the other side, feeling like a new person, excited to explore your spirituality more.
  4. “Satoru Self: “Satori” is the Japanese term for “comprehension” and represents seeing into one’s true nature. You begin recognizing, embodying, and honoring yourself.
  5. Soul Sessions: You begin to live your truth, establish new rituals and build your life around your newfound spirituality.
  6. Surrender: You release your old beliefs and accept your new path; you have it all “figured out.”
  7. Awareness & Service: Complete awareness of your divinity happens; you move through life gracefully and have a desire to be of service to others.

The system of weathering this natural transformation and evolution of your soul is not an easy task, but it is incredibly profound and will bring an abundance of purpose, alignment, and peace to your life. Allow this list to give you more clarity on your journey to spiritual awakening and open yourself to both the pain and the joy of each phase.
